About journey - KPIT
Today, KPIT stands as a global leader in independent software integration partner for the mobility ecosystem.

Leading automakers collaborate with KPIT to advance their Software Defined Vehicle technology. This success is rooted in over three decades of history.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Pune emerged as a hub for startups and technology companies.

During this vibrant period, KPIT was conceived by two chartered accountants, Mr. Ravi Pandit and Mr. Kishor Patil, who aimed to establish a globally recognized firm.

Both were partners at Kirtane and Pandit Chartered Accountants, a respected firm founded by late Shri. B.R. Pandit in the 1950s. They were soon joined by Shirish Patwardhan and Sachin Tikekar as co-founders.

Initially incubated within the chartered accountancy firm, KPIT later evolved into a separate entity, embarking on an independent path with a vision for global impact. It rapidly embraced the technology sector, focusing on innovation and seizing new opportunities.

Building Foundations and Expanding Horizons (1999-2013)

In its early years, KPIT Infosystems built a robust foundation with a focus on select verticals and technological solutions. A major milestone was its 1999 IPO, which was oversubscribed 50 times.

Between 2002-2013, KPITs client base expanded. Competencies in Engineering, especially in automotive, took shape.

Companies like CG Smith, TVS Harita Mechanical Engineering Team, and in2Soft Diagnostics of Germany were acquired a became a part of the KPIT family. These added significantly to KPIT’s engineering roadmap.

Advancing Mobility and Digital Transformation (2013-2018)

In 2013, KPIT Cummins Infosystems rebranded as KPIT Technologies and ventured into mobility software products, including REVOLO (hybrid electric vehicle technology), Intelligent Transportation Systems (for smart cities and fleet operators), and Maximus Pro (for two-wheeler enthusiasts).

This period was marked by global recognition for innovation and sustainability from organizations such as the United Nations, UITP, and NASSCOM.

Our global presence expanded during this period. Companies like Microfuzzy and IKV joined our family.

In 2018, KPIT announced its most significant step to sharpen its focus on automotive and mobility. KPIT and Birlasoft would merge and demerge to create two entities. In the process, KPIT devested over 70% of its business, demonstrating aspirations to become a leader in automotive software across the globe.

The Dawn of a New KPIT (2019 and Beyond)

“Post-merger-demerger, KPIT took on a new avatar. Despite being 30-40% of its size in 2018, the focus, the zeal for being a leader in automotive and mobility software, and the passion for taking on big goals and shedding all legacy were demonstrated multi-fold.

KPITs new vision, mission and purpose were unveiled across the globe. Every KPIT embarked on a vision of Reimagining Mobility with You for creation of a cleaner, smarter and safer world! KPIT, in its new avatar, was listed on the India stock exchanges. KPIT unveiled into Brand New Corporate Identity."
